The Acting Bishop of Durham invites applications for the position of Rector to serve these neighbouring parishes. This is a full-time role.
St Mary’s is an ancient church, rooted in traditional worship and community life. It is supported by a committed team of clergy, lay leaders, and volunteers. It enjoys a historic chaplaincy link with Gibside Chapel on the nearby National Trust Estate.
Holy Trinity Church stands as a warm, welcoming, and mission-focused parish committed to faith, community, and outreach.
The churches are 2 miles apart. They are distinct but work together well and are open to fresh vision and opportunities to grow this relationship. They are invested in a future focused on deepening faith, strengthening outreach, and growing in number and diversity.
The rectory is a large stone-built property adjacent to St Mary’s Church. It is well-maintained and has just been refurbished.
Gateshead Metro Centre and Newcastle City Centre are within easy striking distance as well as good transport and road networks.
