Narnia-themed prayer spaces popular in Lanchester

As Advent approaches, volunteers transformed All Saints Church in Lanchester into a magical scene from C.S. Lewis’ Narnia for a very special Messy Church.

The children who came were invited to take part in craft activities at six different prayer stations, including the White Witch and famous lamp post, which was provided by A1 Stage Theatrical Supplies in Chester-le-Street plus Mr Tumnus' tea-party and an invitation to Aslan's table.

Baubles were decorated for the Christmas tree, gingerbread men taken as gifts for others and the children reflected on saying sorry with help from the White Witch.

The prayer stations remained open for the next two days, with visits from Annfield Plain Infants and Lanchester EP schools.

Jane Davis, Headteacher of Lanchester EP, said: "The whole school has LOVED their trip to Narnia! Every single class has come back full of it all - they've just loved it all and got so much out of it.

"Thank you and all of the church members who helped in any way to make it so special and wonderful!"
