Priest in Charge for Newbottle, St Matthew (0.5)

The Acting Bishop of Durham invites applications for the position of Interim Priest in Charge to serve the parish of St Matthew, Newbottle.

This is a 0.5 role for one year, including house, working in this single parish benefice within the Deanery of Chester le Street and Houghton.

St Matthew’s Church is located within a growing community and is seen by the established ex mining community as ‘the church for their community’.  The community come together well for social events and festivals, such as Christmas and the congregation are keen to have a priest who will help them develop their mission and evangelism in the community and beyond, especially focusing on children and young people. 

Discernment and development of mission opportunities are on-going through their committed LLMs and they are keen to work close with their new interim priest to look to further opportunities for faith engagement.
