This page highlights a selection of resources for Young Adults Ministry that our Growing Younger team would like to recommend. In our regular conversations with people and churches across the diocese, we have identified resources that are practical, relevant and inspiring, designed to spark ideas and help address some of the common challenges we share. For a fuller list of recommended resources, please see the link at the bottom of this page.
Being With
The Being With course has a strong relational and incarnational focus, focussing on being with others and being with God. The theological focus and course design marry perfectly with research showing that Gen Z are an isolated generation, and that one of the most significant factors to facilitate spiritual growth amongst young adults is relationship and community. Designed for those who are spiritually curious or on the peripheries of church, the Being With course is designed to enable a gut feeling and response to Christ, and an embodied understanding of Him.
Kintsugi Hope
Kintsugi Hope. The Kintsugi Hope course provides mental health support, and a safe and supportive environment where people can share struggles, gain insights and develop practical tools to enhance their wellbeing. Kintsugi Hope also offer church training days, a ‘session builder’ to help run groups, and they train volunteer Group Leaders to run Kintsugi Hope Wellbeing Groups. Considering young adults have the poorest mental health of any age group in the UK, with 34% of 18-24-year-olds reporting symptoms of ‘common mental disorders’ (What is happening to young people’s mental health? - The Health Foundation), providing mental health support is one of the most significant ways that the church can minister to the needs of young adults.
Five Practices, One Experience and the Holy Spirit: Exploring Spiritual Growth Amongst 18-35 Year Olds in the UK Church
Five practices, one experience, and the Holy Spirit: Exploring spiritual growth amongst 18-to-35-year-olds in the UK Church. Packed with insights for church leaders, this report explores the barriers to faith and discipleship that young adults face and gives practical recommendations for cultivating faith in 18-to-35-year-olds.
The Talking Jesus Report
This report gives illuminating insight into how young adults perceive Jesus. Although the report includes data from people of all ages, results are categorised into age brackets, and many of the key take-aways are specific to 18-24-year-olds. Helpfully, the Talking Jesus report surveys young adult Christians (for example how they came to faith) as well as non-Christians (on questions such as do they know a practicing Christian, do they believe that Jesus was a real person).
