150 Young Adults gathered for ONE WAY conference celebrating church unity across the North East.
From 27–28 February, around 150 students and young adults from 14 churches across the North East gathered for the ONE WAY Conference, an ecumenical event bringing together Christian student and young adult communities with a shared heart for church unity.
Hosted across two venues, the conference began on Friday evening at St Thomas’ Church and continued on Saturday at City Church Newcastle, drawing young believers together for worship, prayer, teaching, and fellowship.
The event was built around the vision expressed in Ephesians 4:4–6:
“There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.”
Throughout the conference, attendees reflected on the truth that, as God’s one Church, there is one way — Jesus.
A highlight of the gathering was a testimony-sharing session, where young adults from across the region shared stories of how they are seeing God at work among their generation with signs of a growing “Quiet Revival” in the North East.
The conference also featured teaching from guest speakers Philip Le Dune, Will Foulger, and Pip Elmes, who explored the biblical call to unity — one Spirit, one body, and one Lord - challenging attendees to live out their shared faith together across denominational lines.
Over the course of the two days, young adults took part in extended times of worship and prayer, led by worship teams from several churches across the region. The gathering created space for believers to study Scripture, share stories, and build friendships rooted in their common faith.
The vision behind ONE WAY is to strengthen relationships between churches and encourage collaboration in mission. Organisers believe that when Christians unite in worship, prayer, and discipleship, it can become a powerful catalyst for faith and outreach across the region.
Reflecting on the event, Phoebe Turner, Diocesan Young Adult Mission Enabler for Durham Diocese, said: “Young adults in our Diocese are uniting in prayer and praise, which was a real joy. We can’t wait for the next ONE WAY event in the summer.”
Following the positive response to this event, organisers are already planning the next gathering, with hopes of continuing to grow this movement of unity among students and young adults across the North East.
