The Centre for Excellence in Creative Arts (CECA), operated by Hartlepool Borough Council, has sadly recently closed due to funding difficulties. The building is owned by the Diocese of Durham which leased it to the council at no cost.
In a statement, a spokesperson for the Diocese said: “Hartlepool Borough Council has leased the building from us since 2017, for which we have charged no rent, and has recently served notice. The Diocese is keen to see the centre continue to be used as a community resource and is exploring how this might be made possible in partnership with other organisations.”
