School, church and local community find new way to worship together

Staindrop Parish is Growing Faith! St Mary's Church was packed with members of the community and families to listen and join in the singing and dancing to Jesus' message from the Gospels, led by the children of Staindrop CE Primary School.

Having spent a week learning the songs and dance led by Ashling McCann, Project Leader for the North East of iSingPop, the children shared the Gospel with more than 200 gathered at church.

Revd Canon Eileen Harrop, Staindrop's Vicar shared the floor with Headteacher Mr Steve Whelerton to pray for families, the school, the church, and the community.

Staindrop St Mary's PCC sponsors a Missioner, Sarah Fells, who helps staff with Collective Worship, the Christian aspects of curriculum, after school Mini Disciples club, and seasonal services in church. The audience expressed great encouragement and joy, and the desire to see more of our partnership.

The school has also recently received a letter from Damien Hird, Minister for Education, congratulating the school for being among the top 1% in the country for Writing, Reading, and Mathematics. Mrs Paula Kirkup, Chair of Governors, said: "The school and parents value the children's faith, spirituality, and wellbeing perhaps even more".
