As part of the Flourish Partnership between St John’s Church and St John’s CE Primary School in Shildon, a joyful baptism recently took place within the school—an inspiring moment that reflects the strength of the growing relationship between church, school, and families.
This partnership has blossomed through Families@4, a child-led, family worship event held every half term. These gatherings bring the school community together in worship, supported by dedicated volunteers from St John’s Church. The inclusive and welcoming nature of Families@4 has seen more than 40 families take part over the past academic year.
Catherine Simpson, Educational Chaplaincy Enabler, said: "The recent baptism at school is a beautiful example of how faith is becoming a natural and celebrated part of school life. Events like these continue to strengthen the bond between children, families, and the wider church community—truly shining bright together as one family."
