Death notices
The Revd George Lackenby RIP
The Acting Bishop of Durham was saddened to hear of the death of the Revd George Lackenby in the early hours of Friday 26th September.
Born in 1948, George was ordained deacon in 2013 and priest in 2014, and served as Self-Supporting Curate and then Associate Minister in the benefice of Harlow Green and Lamesley, Gateshead, until 2023 when, at the age of 75, he moved to holding PTO. He continued to exercise active ministry in Harlow Green and Lamesley, until health prevented him.
His funeral will be held on Friday, 17th October at 12 noon, at St Andrew’s Church Lamesley.
